Arapahoe Boys, Girls fall in first round of Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament
ARAPAHOE - The Arapahoe boys and girls basketball teams each dropped their first round games in the Bob Braithwait Holiday Tournament.
The girls had a difficult time getting much going offensively, particularly in the first half, against Blue Hill.
The Bobcats’ 2-3 zone stymied the Warriors in the first half as the visitors led 11-0 after a quarter and 23-3 at halftime.
Arapahoe (1-7) actually outscored the Bobcats in the second half, but shot just 18 percent from the field for the game and had 23 turnovers as they fell 43-24.
Emerson Swanson knocked down a pair of threes and led the Warriors with six points. Hope Koller scored five and Hilary Downey and McKenzie Holliday each scored four.
In the nightcap, the boys trailed by just two through a high-scoring first quarter, 20-18, but couldn’t keep up the pace as the Bobcats got out in transition and poured on the lead before coasting in the fourth to a 59-45 victory.
The defeat dropped Arapahoe to 3-4.
Both the boys and girls will battle Wauneta-Palisade in the tournament's consolation games Thursday. The girls game tips at 1 p.m. with the boys game to follow.
