Arapahoe drops both ends of Med Valley triangular
CURTIS - The Arapahoe volleyball team again fought hard, but a chance for a victory slipped away at the Medicine Valley triangular last week.
The Warriors dropped a staright-sets match to the host Raiders, 25-20 and 25-14 while also coming up short in a 11-25, 25-23, 25-18 defeat to Paxton.
Against the Raiders, Arapahoe was unable to match the offense from Medicine Valley as the Raiders hit .200 and served six aces.
The Warriors hit .113, led by four kills each from Emerson Swanson, Sabrina Jacobsen and Gentry Warner and had three aces, including two from Warner.
But the Raiders were too much as the Warriors finished with just four digs and two blocks defensively.
Against Paxton, Arapahoe rolled to a lopsided win in the first, but was unable to close out the match in the second, then ran out of gas in the third as Paxton pulled away late for the win.
Arapahoe held the advantage offensively, hitting .138 and slamming 24 kills against Paxton.
Hope Koller had six kills and Swanson and McKenzie Holliday each had five. Warner added four.
The Warriors also served eight aces, including two each from Berkely Warner, Gentry Warner and Koller.
Defensively, Koller had a pair of stuff blocks and Berkely Warner had 14 digs while Swanson had nine and Jacobsen had eight. Gentry Warner dished out a teamhigh 17 assists.
