Cambridge drops games at Pleasanton Tourney

PLEASANTON - Both the Cambridge boys and girls basketball teams went 0-2 at the Pleasanton Holiday Tournament last week.

The Cambridge girls fell to Ravenna, 47-31, on Monday, then dropped a 58-21 decision to Anselmo-Merna on Tuesday. The Trojans are now 3-5.

The boys team fell 61-37 to Ravenna on Monday, then fell 57-37 to Anselmo-Merna on Tuesday. Cambridge is now 2-6.

For the girls against Ravenna, the Trojans saw a tight game opened up in the second period when Ravenna exploded for 18 points to build a 27-14 lead at the half.

The Bluejays kept the Trojans at arms’ length in the second half and rolled away to the 16-point victory.

Paige Klumpe scored 13 to lead the Trojans while Bailee Ahlemeyer added six. Autumn Deterding grabbed nine rebounds and Ahlemeyer had six. Breelle Miller had three assists and three steals and Ahlemeyer had three steals as well.

Against Anselmo-Merna, the Coyotes raced out to a 20-3 lead in the opening six minutes and never looked back.

Cambridge got within 11 on a couple different points in the second quarter, but the Coyotes closed the half on a run to build a 32-10 lead at the half, then dominated with defense after the break for a 37-point victory.

Klumpe scored 10 to lead the team while Deterding added six points. Schyler Hoberty grabbed seven rebounds and Deterding had five and two assists.
