Cambridge, Hi-Line compete at Twin Loup
Cambridge and Hi-Line wrestled at the Twin Loup Invite hosted in Sargent on Friday, Dec. 11. Cambridge scored 79 points to finish fifth. Hi-Line followed closely with 74 points for a sixth-place finish.
Cambridge’s Bobby Evans, 195, and Julien Grindle, 220, came home champions in their respective weight classes. Evans won with a 3 minute, 58 second pin, 2:37 pin and an 11-2 decision. Grindle finished first in his weight class of two wrestlers, earning two pins 1:02 and 2:3o. He defeated Hi-Line’s Drew Knoerzer who earned second in the class.
Hi-Line’s Connor Schutz, 182, also came home as a champion earning three pins on his way to the title — 1:12, 1:26 and 1:13.
Additional placers for Cambridge included Angel Rodriguez, 106, in third; Tye Stanton, 160, third; Matt Morgan, 132, fourth; Adam Corbett, 145, fourth; and Wyatt Ervin, 182, fourth.
Rodriguez earned points for Cambridge through a 1:53 pin. Stanton tallied pins in times of 4o seconds and 1:10.
Morgan won through a bye and a medical forfeit. Corbett pinned on opponent in 2:52 and marked a 18-8 major decision against another. Ervin earned two pins —19 seconds and 1:08.
Additional placers for Hi-Line included six fourthplace finishes: Jake Klotz, 106; Aiden Shutts, 120; Broden Dean, 126; Ayden Moore, 152; Nate Redwin, 16o; and Ben Tiede, 195.
Shutts provided points toward Hi-Line’s total with a buy and a 1:59 pin. Dean won via a bye and a 2:57 pin. Moore marked two pins in 2:4o and 1:55. Tiede grabbed a bye and a 3-1 win.
