After a pair of defeats to open the season, the Hi-Line girls basketball team grabbed its first win with a 50-44 victory at Maxwell Tuesday.

The triumph followed losses to Wilcox-Hildreth, 45-14, on Thursday and to Ansley-Litchfield, 47-36, on Friday.

Thursday, the Bulls fell in a 14-2 hole after a quarter and trailed 24-2 at the half before the Falcons rolled away to a 31-point victory.

Friday, the Spartans also jumped on the Bulls early, racing to a 16-6 lead after eight minutes, but Hi-Line responded with an 11-point second quarter to draw within 23-17 at half-time.

The Bulls then put up 15 points in the third to move in front 32-31 to the fourth.

But Ansley-Litchfield dominated the final quarter, outscoring the Bulls 16-4 to take the win.

Tuesday, the Bulls once again trailed after the first as Maxwell jumped out to a 14-9 lead after eight minutes and maintained a 22-18 edge at the break.

But Hi-Line’s offense caught fire and stayed hot, scoring 14 in the third and 18 more in the fourth to close out a six-point victory and improve to 1-2 on the season.

No statistical information was available as of press time.

The Bulls travel to Pleasanton Friday, then visit Bertrand on Tuesday.
