AMHERST-Monday evening was the first day of the C2-10 subdistrict tournament in Amherst. The first match of the evening featured No. 1 seeded Amherst taking on fourth-seeded Hi-Line. Amherst took care of business quickly winning in three sets, 25-12, 25-11, and 25-18.

In the first set, Amherst started fast going on an 8-1 run before a timeout was taken by the Bulls. For Hi-Line, the timeout though didn't slow down the Broncos as they continued to play strong en route to the first set victory.

In set two, it was much of the same as the Broncos used a variety of runs and strong hitting from sophomore Hannah Herrick, who led all players with 18 kills on the night. In the third set, the Bulls were incredibly competitive. Hi-Line stayed within striking distance, never trailing more than seven points in the set, and getting as close as three at one time.

The Bulls were led by junior Zoey Evans as she recorded six kills and fellow junior Ansley Williams as she had six kills also. Hi-Line finishes the season with a record of 8-21.

In the second match of the evening, it was secondseeded South Loup and thirdseeded Southern Valley. This matchup was a rematch from October 7th, a contest in which South Loup won in five sets. Monday night's matchup was another five-set thriller with the same outcome of the Bobcats winning. The set scores were 25-20, 25-16, 21- 25, 16-25, and 15-12.

In set number one, South Loup came out on fire as they led 6-0 before a timeout was called by the Eagles. Southern Valley countered with a 5-1 run making it 7-5. Later in the set, the two teams were neck and neck tied at 18-18. But a 7-2 run closed out the set.

In set two Southern Valley kept things close for a while at 13-10, but South Loup used a 7-1 run to distance themselves and never look back. In set three, Southern Valley turned the tables on the South Loup as they fell behind 5-1, but The Eagles closed the gap quickly tying it at 7-7. Southern Valley then completely took over leading by as many as eight, with the score reading 24-16. It took five set points to close it, but the Eagles got it done.

In the fourth set, Southern Valley nabbed the lead from the get-go and never relinquished it as Krista Best and Ann Bose led the charge each with three kills in the set. Southern Valley maintained a large lead through the duration of the set, forcing a fifth and decisive fifth set.

In the fifth set, it was a back and forth affair until South Loup took a 6-5 lead. From there, they hung onto a narrow lead as Bobcat senior Regan Cool led the way with her 11 kills.

Southern Valley was led by sophomore Ann Bose as she unofficially had 12 kills for and senior Krista Best had 11.

The Eagles close the season at 13-15.
