The young Southern Valley Lady Eagles had a rough week playing tough opponents and just coming up short.

It started on Tuesday as the Eagles hosted Amherst falling 16-25, 13-25, & 17-25.

They headed to Hoxie, Kansas on Thursday for what was supposed to be a triangular with Cambridge, but Cambridge was unable to attend due to COVID concerns. The Eagles battled the Hoxie Indians and again just couldn't finish sets to get the win. The Eagles came out early and took a commanding lead in set one but the Indians battled back winning several points to keep the set alive and eventually winning 29-27. In the second set it was back and forth again with Eagles dropping it 23-25. The final set was much like most of the night where it looked like the Eagles would get back in the match but just came up short 26-24. The Indians made several big digs late in the match to close it out.

This week again began with a match that was supposed to include Cambridge in a triangular, but as before the match turned into a dual.

The Eagles traveled to Hastings to play power house Hastings St Cecilia. The girls fell in this match 10-25, 11- 25, 16-25. It was good for this young group to go challenge themselves against a quality team, and in the third set they really battled until late in the match.

The girls are working hard and look to make some noise in the RPAC tournament and in the postseason.

They face South Loup at home on Thursday and then host Minden and Alma in a triangular on the 17th.
