Area Boys and Girls State delegates to participate in a virtual event this year

Hannah Whitson of Arapahoe has been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State through a virtual format. Whitson will study local, county and state government processes in this nonpartisan political learning experience. Every spring, the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State Program provides approximately 25,000 young women with a hands-on educational opportunity designed to instruct tomorrow’s leaders in the privileges and duties of responsible citizenship.

Monthly bingo was held on Saturday with Ilene Collins hostess. Six were present with Ilene Collins and Joyce Utterback winning black out and Della Mae VonLoh winning stand up bingo. Cake and ice cream were served.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cambridge load items from Thrift Shop bound for Orphan Grain Train

Members of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Cambridge, gathered at the Cambridge Hospital Auxiliary Thrift Shop on Sunday, March 21 where they sorted, boxed, taped, labeled and loaded items from the Thrift Shop bound for Orphan Grain Train in Grand Island. A total of 37 people with willing hands and big hearts worked together loading 160 boxes and numerous bags of items into the Orphan Grain Train trailer which Al and Bev Nixon brought from the Grand Island OGT warehouse.

Arapahoe Honor Society and student volunteers participate in ACE Clean Up program

On Saturday, March 20 six members of the National Honor Society of Arapahoe High School along with student volunteers cleaned the city park and baseball field as part of the ACE Community Clean Up program. The participating National Honor Society members are: Grant Taylor, Reilley Einspahr, Hannah Whitson, Alese Williams, Diana Hanzlick, and Hope Koller. The student volunteers are: Colton Carlson, Tristian White, Austin Warburton, Joey Callahan, and Manu Giacalone. Marcia Foley is the NHS sponsor.
