25 Years Ago June 6, 1996 A female motorist was struck by a vehicle Monday evening in Oxford. She was transported by ambulance to the Cambridge hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

Carter Bose of Southern Valley and Nolan Meyers of Arapahoe were selected to play for the South Team in the Nebraska Shrine Bowl Game. Bose held the snap and Meyers blocked for the sole points scored by the South in a 3-10 loss to the North. Dustin Kronhoffman of Arapahoe was an assistant coach for the South.

Sand Volleyball League debuts Tornado Alley

On May 23, a sand volleyball league began on the two sand courts on the north side of Tornado Alley in Arapahoe. Sundays, 8 coed 6-person teams gather to battle for the title in two divisions. The 6-week league play is followed by a double-elimination tournament (the top two teams from each division advance to the tournament).

East Basketball Players Sweep CSO All-Star Games

The 2021 Girls’ CSO Allstar Basketball Game tipped off at 6:00 p.m. at Cambridge High School last Friday. The West All-Star team and the East All-Star team faced off in a final game, and the East All-Star team took the victory 62-56. The East Team consisted of Alonis Gliven of Hi-Line, Whitney Bauee of Elm Creek, Chiara Richeson of Gothenburg, Samantha Schomper of Loomis, Ashley Brown of Elm Creek, Taylor Wiser of Holdredge, Annica Harm of Gothenburg, RyLee Huff of Perkins County, Gretchen Hodge of Hi-Line, and Kaylin Brown of Dundy County Stratton. The West Team consisted of Zoey Buos of Wauneta Palisade, HayLee Davis of Dundy County Stratton, Maggie Lutz of Dundy County Stratton, Payton Yearous of Wauneta Palisade, Jordan Miller of Maxwell, Alexis Richmond of Chase County, McKinzie Baney of Dundy County Stratton, Haylee Sandman of Wauneta Palisade, Jaycee Widener of Maywood Hay Center, and Danielle Burqe of Perkins County.
