Oxford - The 64th Turkey Days celebration will happen beginning Friday, June 11. While there won’t be a carnival there will still be many favorites and some new things.
Oxford - The Village of Oxford board of trustees met on Monday, June 7, 2021 at 7 pm at the Village office. Absent from the meeting was trustees Mike Minarik and Chad Cunningham. The meeting was called to order by chairman Clint McQuiston. Also present were Public works director Duane Hoffman and Clerk Becky Calderone. The minutes of the last meeting were tabled. Claims were approved to be paid.
Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) has been notified of a second animal that has tested positive for rabies in the nine-county health district. The positive rabies case was in a skunk in Furnas County.
As of this writing, the first week of June is gone. We are almost half way through 2021. Already! Where has the year gone? At least it has flown by for me. I guess that’s better than having the days drag by. Time goes fast for one when one has lots they want to get done. I don’t think I can possibly live long enough to get everything done that I want/need to do.
Ronald Dean Leggott, age 71 of Doniphan, Nebraska, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, June 2, 2021 at St. Francis CHI Hospital, Grand Island, Nebraska due to cardiac arrest. He was born on October 19, 1950 in Lexington, Nebraska to Sherle and Beth (Leggott) Leggott.
A Funeral Service for Gary E. Brown will be held on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Wes Holen officiating. Interment will be held at the Oxford Cemetery, following service.
A Memorial Service for Alexander V. Geiselman will be held on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Wes Hafner officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford.
