10 years ago After 26 years of having just one owner Medicine Creek Lodge, located on the west side of Harry Strunk Lake, has taken on new owners. Roger and Trish Houser, who have lived and owned the Lodge since 1985, have sold the business to Doug and Deb Breinig of Arapahoe.

10 years ago Bryson Mahlberg, a junior at the University of Nebraska-Kearney, has been named the 2011 RMAC Man’s Outdoor Track and Field Academic Athlete of the Year. Connie Karr was the speaker for the Memorial Day service held at the Elwood Cemetery.

10 years ago Justin Malleck guards the ball as he keeps it away from the west team in Friday night’s CSO basketball game. After a slow start in the first half of the game he came back to hit 15 points in the second half, 11 of them in the final quarter.

McCook, Nebraska—Community Hospital is allowing visitation for patients now that COVID-19 cases are lower and a significant percentage of the public has been vaccinated. Nearly a year has passed since Community Hospital restricted visitors due to the pandemic.

Marlene Haussler of Lakewood, CO ate the noon meal with Lelia Haussler on Saturday. She came to Arapahoe for a reunion of some of her graduating class. From Arapahoe she went to Elwood to visit Bob and Phyllis Remmenga and other Monter relatives.
