Inurnment was held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Westlawn Cemetery in Grand Island, NE.

A private inurnment of Charleen, Charles and Kathleen will be held prior to the service at the Edison Cemetery in Edison, Nebraska.

A Funeral Service for Jean Lubeck was held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska with Pastor Thalia Woodward officiating. Interment will follow at the Stamford Cemetery at Stamford.

A Celebration of Life Gathering for Donald K. “Don” Paulson who passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 was held on Saturday, August 14, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Golden Generation Center at 600 Central Street, Oxford, NE 68967. A memorial has been established in Don’s honor and kindly suggested to the Oxford Food Pantry, Golden Generation Center, or donate blood at your local blood drive.

The first day of school is an important transition for students of all ages, and it is often a challenging one. That is particularly true this fall as we start yet another academic year marked by the pandemic.

In the next year, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to make its most important decision regarding abortion law and states’ rights in over a quarter-century. The Court’s ruling could overturn Roe v. Wade and give states more latitude in passing pro-life initiatives, including legislation limiting abortion in the early stages of pregnancy.

The Red Willow County GOP will meet for their monthly meeting on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Bedore Barn-Marlene’s Kitchen, 3 miles north of McCook. Guest speaker, Elizabeth Tegtmeier who has declared her intention to run for the State School Board, will speak at 7:00. Plans for the Blue Rock Shoot, to be held September 26, 2021, will be finalized. All area residents are invited to attend. Several from the area have attended public meetings throughout the previous month and will be reporting on those meetings. As usual, the GOP is encouraging everyone to become involved in local, state, and federal issues facing us.
