A Private Mass of Christian Burial for Margery L. Hoxmeier was held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Orleans, Nebraska with Father Maurice Current officiating.

M. Elaine Stagemeyer Lueders, age 83, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, formerly of Holbrook, Nebraska passed away on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Cambridge Hospital in Cambridge, Nebraska. She was born February 15, 1938 in Cambridge, Nebraska to Guy E. and Lela E. (Remington) Fetters. She was baptized at the Baptist Church in Cambridge. She grew up south of Holbrook, Nebraska and attended country school close to home. She would then attend Holbrook High School and graduate with the class of 1955. She married Joseph W. Stagemeyer on June 20, 1957 at the First Baptist Church in Holbrook. She worked as a cook at the school and as a clerk in the village office, both in Holbrook. She also worked at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe in the laundry department and then helped at the HoJo’s Restaurant in Holbrook. Her husband Joe passed away on August 16, 2007. She then married Glen Lueders and they later separated.

Jeneel Kay Evans, age 72, of Elwood, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, at Lexington Regional Hospital in Lexington, Nebraska. She was born on May 15, 1949 at Holdrege, Nebraska to Bernard and Ruth (Swanson) Schmidt.

A Celebration of Life Service for Azalea G. Harbour was held on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. at the Bauer-Torrey and Mach Funeral Home in Alma, Nebraska with Pastor Nathan Goshert officiating. The family request you wear Azalea’s favorite colors blue and purple for her service.

William R. “Bill” Klein, 62 passed away Saturday, September 4, 2021 at Avamere in Lexington, NE with his children by his side. The family will be honoring Bill’s wishes for private family services to be held at a later date.

Betty M. Prasch, 99 of Elwood formerly of Lexington passed away Friday September 3, 2021 in Elwood.

A Funeral Service for DeLoris M. Miller will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at the Adullam Lutheran Church in rural Bertrand, Nebraska with John M. Strackbein, PMA, officiating. Interment will follow at the Adullam Cemetery.

The kidneys may be called the Rodney Dangerfield of the body, as they often “don’t get no respect.” The National Kidney Foundation estimates that one in three adult Americans are at risk for kidney disease, yet these organs are mostly ignored unless they develop stones or stop working.

Twenty years ago, the United States suffered the terrorist attacks of 9/11. No one old enough to remember that day will ever forget it. It was surreal to watch the Twin Towers collapse and heartbreaking to see images of first responders covered head to toe in dust, searching through the debris in Manhattan.

I can think of no better way to experience Nebraska than through a visit to our state fair. From the tractor pull to the incredible food and the project showcase run by 4-H and FFA, the Nebraska State Fair brings the best of our state to Grand Island for 11 days each summer. It was a pleasure to visit this year’s fair and talk with many Nebraskans while taking in all the fair has to offer.
