The Southern Valley Board of Education met on Monday, October 11, 2021 at 8 pm. Elementary principal Mark Grove reported he has two new students this week.

Pawnee Woman’s Grave

Recently, I visited the Massacre Canyon Monument near Trenton, Nebraska. I also stopped to visit the grave of a Pawnee woman buried in Indianola, Nebraska. According to a historical marker at Indianola, on August 5, 1873, a thousand Sioux warriors surprised and defeated a Pawnee hunting party of 350 men, women and children, killing 69 of them.
