100 Years Ago November 24, 1921 The eighth grade basketball team held the high school team to a tie. The eighth grade line-up was Willie Beighle, center; Percy Clarine, forward; Flore McNamara, forward; Bacil Cowan, guard and Harle Grush, guard.

Scouts hold Rain Gutter Regatta

The Arapahoe Scouts held their annual Rain Gutter Regatta on Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church, Each Scout made a sail boat and used a straw to race it down the gutter filled with water. After the races, the scouts received their popcorn orders so if you ordered something from a scout, you should be getting your order soon. Other scouting activites last weekend was the Night at the Museum where some of the scouts spent the night at the Hastings Museum.

10 years ago Arapahoe Public School’s afternoon pre-school class took their first field trip as they visited the Roskop Dairy south of Arapahoe with their instructor LeAndre Monie. Thanksgiving carries a lot of traditions according to the National Turkey Foundation in 2010 consumption of turkey was 16,4 pounds per person - 31 percent of that is eaten at Thanksgiving.

Adam and Caitlin Snyder of Arapahoe announce the birth of their son, Sam Alvin Snyder, born September 11, 2021 in Holdrege. He weighed 7 pounds, 13 ounces and measured 19 1/4 inches long. Grandparents are John and Ingrid Tangeman and Douglas and Christine Snyder, all of Arapahoe. Great-grandparents are Larry and Corinne Tangeman of O'Neill, Patricia Snyder of Arapahoe and the late Robert Snyder, the late Don and Lila Adams of Arapahoe, and the late Floyd and Sylvia Morris of Arapahoe.

25 Years Ago November 21, 1996 Rich Phillips, economic development director for Beaver City, and Ernie Hulinsky, Oxford branch manager for Union Bank and Trust, are pictured with dairymen from Holland who may locate their business in Canada and in the Furnas County area. They have twice previously toured this area and local officials are hoping their interest will mean location in Furnas County.
