INDIANOLA - The Indianola City Council met Monday to discuss an ongoing issue with trains blocking a city crossing for extended periods of time as well as to hire for the open utilities position and other items of business.

CAMBRRIDGE - The Cambridge City Council met in regular session Monday evening, January 7, 2022 with all council members, City staff including Kandra Kinne, Lisa Shifflet, Maria Downer, and Dave Houghtelling, and three visitors, John Kutnink, Bruce Lefler, and Randy Heitmann in attendance.

MCCOOK - With a dominant defensive performance in the finale, the Cambridge girls basketball team finished third place at the 14-team RPAC Basketball Tournament Saturday, rolling past West runner-up Wallace, 39-16, in the consolation game.

ARAPAHOE - Local teams combined for six individual champions and the Arapahoe erstling team finished runnerup at the Darrell Barnes Invitational Saturday in Arapahoe. The Warriors scored 107 team points at the meet as Bryan Conn (132), Tristian White (152) and Levi Kerner (285) each won individual titles and six total Warriors won medals.

KEARNEY - The NSAA announced the pairings for the eight-team Class D State Duals Tournament in Kearney Saturday on Monday. Undefeated Arapahoe claimed the number four seed at the championship event and will take on fifth-seeded Pender (12-1) Saturday at 10:30 a.m.

HASTINGS - Arapahoe’s Addie Jeffcoat took second and Jacob Moore finished fifth individually at the District A-6 Bowling Meet in Hastings Tuesday, punching a ticket to the State Bowling Tournament in Lincoln next week.

CAMBRIDGE - A big fourth-quarter push helped nudge the Southern Valley girls basketball team to a victory over Southwest to close out the RPAC Tournament for both teams Thursday. Trailing by two to the fourth quarter, the Eagles exploded for 22 of their 49 points in a 49-37 win that pushed them to 11-6 this season.

CAMBRIDGE - You may not be able to win a game in the first quarter, but you can take a big step toward the cause. The Arapahoe girls basketball team capped its RPAC Tournament with a consolation victory over Medicine Valley Thursday, 49-38.

CAMBRIDGE - With one of its best shooting nights of the season, the Arapahoe boys basketball team put a bow on its RPAC Tournamen with a 58-47 consolation game victory over Southern Valley Friday. The Warriors started hot and stayed that way, putting up 17 points in the opening quarter and 18 more in the second to build a 35-23 lead at the half.

CAMBRIDGE - With 20 points in the opening quarter, the Cambridge boys basketball team grabbed a big lead and never let go in cruising to a 63-34 win over Southwest to wrap up RPAC Tournament play Friday in Cambridge.
