Magorian takes second at State Spelling Bee

Arapahoe’s Thomas Magorian received 2nd place in the State Spelling Bee Competition held February 26 at the University of Nebraska Strauss Performing Arts Center in Omaha. There were 70 participants from 5th-8th grade that came from Nebraska and southwest Iowa. This was the 93rd annual regional bee, the first year it was sponsored by the Omaha Sports Commission. There were 2 written rounds until 12 students were left for the oral round. The word he missed was “acquirable.” The winner was Ananya Rao Prassanna, a 5th grader from Elkhorn. Also pictured is Enunciator Charles Johanningsmeier, chair of UNO’s English department, the 3 judges and the Executive Director of the Omaha Sports Commission.

With a score of 71, the Cambridge Cheer squad was awarded 2nd place in the Nebraska State Cheer & Dance Competition.
