Thirty-three area athletes qualified for this weekend’s State Track and Field Meet in Omaha. Classes C and D will compete together throughout the meet for the first time as both will begin competition Friday at 9 a.m. at Omaha Burke High School. A complete listing of qualifiers and schedule for the State Meet can be found on Pages B2 and B3. NORTH PLATTE - A pair of local competitors finished in the top ten and Southern Valley beat out Arapahoe for the third team spot to the State Meet at the District D-4 Golf Meet in North Platte Monday.

SOUTHERN VALLEY - Southern Valley will be represented by five athletes in four events and Hi-Line will send four athletes to compete in three events at the Class C State Track and Field Meet in Omaha this weekend.

CAMBRIDGE - The Cambridge track and field teams continued their dominant ways in the team standings, sweeping the team titles at the district meet Thursday while also qualifying 11 individuals in 22 events along with four relay teams for the Class D State Meet in Omaha this weekend.

10 years ago Merle and Thomas Adams were hired by the Arapahoe City Council Board to mow the Splash Pad in Arapahoe. Valedictorian Ashley McCoy and Salutatorian Rei Stagemeyer will give addresses at the Arapahoe High School graduation.

10 years ago Receiving year-end recognitions were Alec McCurdy Butch Luther Award, Allison Dobson All School “C”, Kalen Farr All School “C”, Breezy Huxoll Girls Athlete, and Katelyn Flammang Valedictorian. Long time Cambridge boys and golf coach Del Schoenfish will be inducted in a class of 20 athletes, coaches, officials and other contributors.

10 years ago Salutatorian Grant Rahjes, Ashley Larson, and Valedictorian Carl Einsphar were the speakers for Saturday graduation at Elwood High School. Driver Education will be offered this summer with Kurt Banzhaf as instructor and cost the class is $225.
