Drug TakeAway Envelopes Available at Area Tri Valley Health Clinics

Body
In recognition of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on April 30th, the Tri Valley Health System Hospital Pharmacy Department supplied our local area clinics with Drug TakeAway Envelopes. These envelopes will be available to all patients who request them and will provide a safe and convenient way to dispose of prescription medications. These items will also help us in the fight to combat medication abuse. The pharmacy team has put together a template for instructions to follow with these envelopes and a list of what is acceptable and not acceptable to send back for disposal. Pictured with the envelopes are left to right: Pharmacist John Kutnink, Clinic Nurse Jeri Powell, Clinic Nurse Carrie Magorian, and Pharmacist Cristin Soucie.

Rock Falls

Body
Have you ever heard of Rock Falls in the southwestern part of Phelps County? At one time it was a settlement of about 300 around 1886 with several businesses. The first settler in the area was James Sweeny, who stake his claim near a point on Spring Creek where a huge rock extended from bank to bank and created a lovely waterfall. I have included a picture of the falls taken in 1915. A settlement was started known as the Spring Creek Settlement later named Rock Falls. However, by the turn of the century there was not much left of the settlement. There was a lake above the falls and it became a scenic spot for people from surrounding communities to fish, boat, and have picnics. A few days ago, I tried to find the spot of the falls but was unable to find it. I was told by someone living in the area, that all that is left is a small stream running over some rocks.
