The American Legion Post 96 Cookout was held in the Arapahoe Park on Memorial Day with a good crowd attending following the Memorial service at the cemetery. Burgers, brats, baked beans, potato salad and drinks were served.

Virginia Cookson’s visitors over the weekend were John and Wanda Lewis of Iowa and their son Jim. Monday evening, Virginia shared the Blue Room with the Whitson family and friends to celebrate Hannah Whitson’s 18th birthday. She will be attending Nebraska Wesleyan this fall.

The Gosper County Senior Center is in full swing and has coffee drinkers in at 8:30, pool-players in the midmorning, exercise machines that are in motion, a puzzle on the table, domino game to get started after lunch and of course great noon dinners for you to enjoy with friendly neighbors. LINCOLN, NE (May 24, 2022) - Nebraska Cattlemen Foundation (NCF) announced they awarded over $56,000 in scholarships to help the next generation of the agriculture industry in their academic pursuits. The scholarships were awarded to fifty-one distinguished students.

(Grand Island, Neb.) – Central Community College has announced the names of full-time students who earned spots on the President’s and Dean’s honor lists for the 2022 spring semester. The students were enrolled at one or more CCC locations, which include the Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings campuses; Holdrege, Kearney and Lexington centers; and Ord Learning Center.
