Lions food and toy drive

Annually, the Cambridge Lions Club leads a food and toy drive for those members of our community who are in need. The effort reaches over 60 households to nine different communities in our area. This project is possible through the generous donations of many individuals, organizations, churches, and groups. This year we again are asking for your financial support. New toys are also needed. Gifts for teenagers are especially needed. Please help us to make this year’s project a success. Beaver City’s new Mayor, Council members sworn into office

BEAVER CITY – Outgoing mayor Leighton Schmidt began the regular city council meeting on December 5, 2022, before his successor Becky Robinson took the oath of office. Recently elected new council members Sabrina Speth and Colin Rogers and re-elected councilman Quinn Barnas also began their fouryear terms on Monday evening. Roger Powers did not seek re-election to the council and Becky Robinson’s seat was open when she ran for mayor.

High Levels of Respiratory Illness Circulating

High levels of respiratory illness have been noted to be circulating in the Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD). These illnesses include colds, influenza, RSV (respiratory syncytial virus), and COVID- 19. These can all have similar symptoms so it can be very challenging to know what you or your loved ones may be suffering from. For those at risk of getting very sick, it’s important to get tested so the right treatment can be prescribed.
