ARAPAHOE - Four local teams finsihed in the top seven at the Darrell Barnes Invite in Arapahoe Saturday. Cambridge finished runner- up to Hitchcock County by two points, 153-151, and Southern Valley took third with 107 points.

Hi-Line falls to Axtell, downs Loomis at FKC

SUMNER - The Hi-Line girls basketball team dropped its FKC Tournament opener in a bit of a rock fight Saturday at Axtell but bounced back with a 42-35 victory over Loomis in Monday’s consolation contest.

BERTRAND - The Cambridge girls basketball team battled another of the top foes from the RPAC in a consolation contest Thursday at Bertrand, but closed out their tournament run with another close defeat, falling to topseeded Alma, 54-49.

BERTRAND - In a hardfought RPAC semifinal, second-seeded Southern Valley outlasted fourth-seeded Southwest, 55-47, to advance to Saturday’s RPAC Championship contest. The Roughriders controlled much of the first half as Bailey Truksa scored 14 of her team-high 20 points to stake Southwest to a 27-25 lead at the break.

MCCOOK - The Cambridge boys basketball team saw it’s RPAC Tournament run end with back-to-back losses as the Trojans finished fourth place. Cambridge battled eventual runner-up Bertrand in Friday’s semifinals, but couldn’t find enough offense to overcome an early deficit in a 45-35 loss to the Vikings.

BERTRAND - In a workmanlike performance, the Southern Valley boys basketball team closed out the RPAC Tournament with a 51-40 victory over Medicine Valley Friday, earning its sixth win of the season. The Eagles held the Raiders to just four points in the second quarter while building an 18-11 lead at the half.

BERTRAND - The Arapahoe boys basketball team dropped the final contest of its RPAC Tournament Friday, falling to top-seeded Alma, 5232, in a consolation contest. The Warriors shot just 23 percent from the field in the defeat as Alma took control early and coasted to victory.
