Last week, I had the opportunity to travel home to Nebraska and visit with many of you in the state. It’s always a delight to be back home interacting with fellow Nebraskans, and I’m thankful I was able to participate in some great events.

This week, President Biden’s Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced burdensome new emissions requirements on American- made vehicles. By requiring up to two-thirds of cars and trucks in the U.S. to be electric in just eight years, they are one step closer to their goal of making gas-powered vehicles obsolete.

Elwood, Eustis-Farnam accept invitation to RPAC

Both the Elwood and Eustis-Farnam boards of education acted to accept invitations to join the Republican Plains Activities Conference at their monthly meetings last week. Currently members of the Fort Kearny Conference, the two schools, which co-op on athletics, but function separately in other activities, such as music, speech and theater, the two schools would become members of the RPAC for the 2024-2025 school year.

John N. Ommert, 72, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Mission Hospital. Born March 28, 1951 in McCook, NE, John was a son of the late Earl Dewey Ommert and Naomi Corrine Baughman Ommert. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Andrew Johnson. Mr. Ommert was a veteran of the U.S.
