ARNOLD - The Hi-Line track and field teams hit the road for the South Loup Invite in Arnold last week, taking eighth in the boys race and 16th in the girls race. The competition was fierce in the boys sprints as Hi-Line’s Ryker Evans finished second in both the 100 and 200, running a personalbest 10.77 in the 100 and a 22.19 in the 200.

It was lots of fun for these young kids finding eggs scattered all over the place. The Easter bunny got a few hugs and hopped to start the races in Arapahoe. Three legged races, flag tag and sack races were held after the hunt in Edison. This year, the younger kids hunted at Prairie Pines in Arapahoe so the residents there could enjoy watching the fun. The older bunch went to South Park to hunt so the residents of Sunshine Village could watch.

Shake, shake, mix! Nine youth from the Arapahoe community came to the Arapahoe Public Library and learned the science behind different foods. Homemade butter, ice cream, and pudding playdough provided a learning experience that showed the “how” behind a couple of favorite foods and a fun hands-on pastime.

Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma to offer scholarships for college sophomores

Chi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a women teachers’ honorary, met on March 11 at a McCook restaurant. President Dianna Radcliffe conducted the business meeting. The chapter will be offering scholarships again this year to female college sophomores who are enrolled in a course student leading to a bachelor’s degree in education. To be eligible for consideration, the girl must have graduated from a high school in the 7-county area of Southwest Nebraska that represents Chi Chapter, which is Chase, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Hayes, Hitchcock, and Red Willow Counties.
