Two members of the Mid-Plains Community College Rodeo Team have qualifi ed for the College National Finals Rodeo, and the MPCC Stampede has been named Regional Rodeo of the Year. The news follows the final competition of the season for the Great Plains Region – the Nebraska Cornhusker Rodeo hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Friday and Saturday in Lincoln.

Southern Valley medals three, finishes RPAC Runner-Up

ALMA - Southern Valley’s quest for the team title at the RPAC Golf Tournament came up just a few strokes short. Behind the top two scores at the tournament, Hitchcock County posted a 353, which was foru strokes better than the Eagles, who had three individual medalists in the top seven and finished with a 357.
Southern Valley’s Matt Henderson took fifth place with an 84 at the RPAC Golf Tournament, leading the Eagles to a runner-up finish.

RPAC Track and Field Meet

BENKELMAN - Behind 23 individual medals and three individual champions, the Cambridge girls track and field team claimed the RPAC Team Championship at the conference track and field meet at Dundy County-Stratton Thursday. JoLie Farr took first in the 100, Brenna Deterding finished first in the 800 and Jalen Kent captured first place in the long jump, guiding the Trojans to 120 team points, which was more than enough to beat out runner-up Wallace, which scored 86 points.

Roger Dean Jones was born in Woodruff, Kansas January 11, 1930 to Rev. Harrison Jones and Ruby (Achen) Jones. The family lived in Imperial, NE after Woodruff, Kansas and Oconto, NE before moving to Cambridge, NE in 1944. Roger met Dorothy Anne Lockenour in Cambridge and they were married June 12, 1951 in her parent’s home, Monte and Jeanie Lockenour, which at the time was the Lockenour Mortuary.

DOROTHY FAYE (WOLFE) TYLER Dorothy was born on June 14th, 1930 to Byron and Etta Wolfe in their Holbrook, NE home. She attended country schools in the Holbrook, Cambridge, and Wilsonville areas, quitting school in the 10th grade to work in the Wilsonville Café to help support the family.

In memory of Ann Marie Mock, Thank you to everyone who reached out to Ann during her hospice treatment and to those who remembered her so graciously in death. We enjoyed talking to those who attended her funeral and sharing stories and memories of Ann.

4th annual arapahoe Gala

The 4th Annual Arapahoe Gala was held on April 15th at the Ella Missing Community Center in Arapahoe. The event included both a mobile bidding auction for people who could bid on the silent auction items from home, and a live auction that evening. Guests who attended the gala event that evening enjoyed a cocktail hour with party games, a catered meal, and dance. The proceeds from this gala event will be given to the Arapahoe-Holbrook Public Schools as they complete the build of a new playground /obstacle course area that will be located east of the basketball court near the football field.
