Ellis honored with plaque

Southern Valley teacher Gina Ellis was honored during the annual Water Jamboree that was held on April 25 and 26 at Camp Joy and Harlan County Reservoir. This is the 30th year of the event and Mrs. Ellis has attended every one of those years. Ellis was presented a plaque by NRD general manager Todd Siel. There will also be a tree planted in her honor at a site yet to be determined.

MCC students inducted into Phi Theta Kappa

Thirteen McCook Community College students were inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society Monday at the Peter and Dolores Graff Events Center. The ceremony included guest speaker Molly Smith, President/CEO of the Mc-Cook Chamber of Commerce who spoke about “The World Needs Who You Were Made to Be.” New members were inducted during a candle lighting ceremony.

Beaver City Pool to Open May 24

BEAVER CITY – During the Beaver City Council regular meeting on May 1, 2023, it was announced that the swimming pool will open on May 24, prior to the Memorial Day weekend. The Veteran’s Memorial will also be back in place by Memorial Day.

May 1, 2023 We had rain! I dumped .46” out of the gauge here on The Hill! A wheat crop that won’t make, but it at least gave everything a clean look. Hopefully it primed the pump and we’ll get more real soon.

OVERTON - Both the Hi-Line girls and boys track and field teams finished in eighth place at the Fort Kearny Conference Meet in Overton Thursday. The girls team scored 24 points and brought home numerous season and personal bests.

Relief, Not Regulation

Joe Biden has continued to abuse his executive authority to show Nebraskans – and all Americans – his misplaced priorities. The examples are almost too numerous to count. In this time of high inflation, Americans deserve relief, not regulation. Fighting Biden’s overreach and attacks on who we are can be daunting, but having done so successfully when I was governor, it’s one of the reasons I want to serve in the United States Senate.
