The Arapahoe American Legion Post #96 and Prairie Quilt Guild members partnered to honor local veterans June 5 at the Legion Hall. Six veterans were recognized and honored for their service to our nation with quilts from Prairie Quilt Guild members Mary Kay Warner, Sarah Leising, Geri Steinbrink and Judy Thompson of Arapahoe and Alice Erickson and Janet Kugler of Holdrege. Prairie Quilt Guild of Holdrege is a Chapter of the Quilts of Honor organization, which provided the quilts for the presentation. Receiving quilts were Rodney Hilker, Wayne Lammel, Gary Schievelbein, and Melvin Kennicutt.

Ag Valley Co-op is excited to announce the hire of Chief Financial Officer, Griffin York, CPA. Griffin is joining Ag Valley after spending 4 years as an auditor with Ketel Thorstenson, LLP in Rapid City, SD. He earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in professional accountancy from the University of South Dakota. He has been a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the state of South Dakota since November 2020 and is a member of the American Institute of CPAs.

Summer Happenings in Edison will be Food Truck Fridays. The schedule for this is as follows: June 16: Lone Wolf BBQ June 23: Braxton’s Smokehouse June 30: Hangries LLC July 7: Tacos Y Salsas Los Forasteros Trucks will be parked on 1st street south of Edison City Building. Serving starts at 5:00 p.m.

Special recognition awards were presented at the 2023 Student Awards Gala at Central Community College-Hastings. Program Honor Students: Recipients are selected from each academic program for good academic standing, outstanding ability in their major area of study, and strong leadership and citizenship skills.
