Furnas County has hired a private company to appraise commercial property, citing insuffi cient property sales as the motivator, the county assessor, Sherry Thooft, said. Central Plains Valuation is a mass appraisal company based in Omaha.

The 41st annual Bike Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN) began Sunday, June 4th, going through South-Central Nebraska for the first time on a shorter route. BRAN officials chose a southern route this year beginning in Benkelman and ending in Ashland.

The Arapahoe Area Foundation along with the Arapahoe Gala Committee presented the Arapahoe-Holbrook Public Schools with a check of $37,850 from the Gala Event held in April. These funds will go towards helping the school complete a new additional playground area for older children.
