Our sister in Christ Bertryl Kae Seybert (81) ascended to be with her Lord and Savior on July 19, 2023, in Longmont, Colorado. Her final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Bertryl had touched in some way throughout her long and very memorable life. She was a devoted wife, loyal sister, loving mother, grandmother, and greatgrandmother.

The Chambers family had a great day at the Gosper County Fair Horse Show. More events are going on this week at the Elwood Fairgrounds.

James C. Morris age 56 of Bartley, NE passed away at his home on July 17, 2023.

The Cambridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary met July 18 in the Tri Valley Health System Republican River Room for lunch, provided by the hospital. Eleven members answered roll call. Minutes from the May, 2023 meeting were read and approved, followed by reports from the treasurer, president, thrift store co-chairman and CEO Jessica Fisher.

Kenneth Lee Wasenius, 91, of Oxford, NE passed away on July 16, 2023 at his home. Kenneth was born on the farm south of Oxford, NE on November 14, 1931, the youngest of three children, to Oscar & Hulda (Johnson) Wasenius.

Tri Valley Medical Foundation recently awarded scholarships totaling $15,900 to 29 area students who are pursuing careers in nursing and other medical fields. Tri Valley Medical Foundation applicants had wonderful career goals, outstanding scholastic records, and favorable recommendations from medical professionals and instructors. The Foundation is fortunate to be able to support these students in our service area to assist them in achieving their future career goals.

Donald Roy High age 84, of Indianola, NE passed away at the Community Hospital in McCook, NE on July 19, 2023. He was born in McCook, on August 13, 1938 to Roy and Edith (Parsons) High. He attended school in Indianola, graduating from Indianola High School in 1957. He attended Milford Community College for one year.

They also enjoyed a bird’s eye view of the city while riding on the London Eye. In addition to the city sites, the group went on excursions to Bath, Stonehenge, and Windsor Castle. After a trip on the Eurostar train, the students’ Paris adventure included a city bus tour, a Seine River cruise, strolls through the Latin Quarter, and of course a visit to the Eiffel Tower. While there, the group also toured the palaces and grounds of Versailles and the Louvre Museum. The next adventure took the students to Brussels and a delicious dinner of Belgium waffles. The next day they visited the European Union buildings, La Grand-Place (old town square), the Atomium from the 1958 World’s Fair, and learned about and tasted delicious Belgium chocolate. The final part of the trip was a visit to Amsterdam to tour “The Anne Frank House” and to take a bus tour of the city. Later the group ventured into the country-side to see windmills, traditional villages, and to learn how Dutch wooden shoes and cheese are made.

Norma Faye (Fisher) Steele, age 94, of Arapahoe, Nebraska passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the Elwood Care Center, Elwood, Nebraska. She was born on February 24, 1929, to Loren and Anna (Buhler) Fisher of Edison, Nebraska. She grew up on the farm and attended rural school District #7, then graduated from Edison High School in 1946 as Valedictorian.
