It was time to head to Stockville for the annual Arent Family Reunion on July 29, 2023. Families gathered at the Stockville Courthouse lawn at noon to swap stories and see faces we haven’t seen for awhile. The Furnas County GOP is scheduled to meet Monday August 14th at the Anew Center conference room in Cambridge and all registered Republicans are welcome to attend. The meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.

8/3/23 It is the first of August. It is Nebraska. But, around this time last year we were having temps in the 115-degree range. At least we haven’t had those temps this year. The forecast has a bit of moisture for the coming week. Hope those chances increase rather than decrease. Polish the prayer bones.

Walk your way to the top challenge starts August 14th

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department’s Walk to Health program is offering the “Walk Your Way to the Top” Challenge starting August 14th through September 11th. This free walking program is open to residents of all ages in the SWNPHD nine-county health district.

Maintenance work will begin on US-283, near Arapahoe

August 7, 2023 (McCook, Neb.) — Weather permitting, a chip seal project will begin August 14 on US-283, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Chip seal is an application of an asphalt binder to a roadway surface followed by an aggregate.

KEARNEY – Graduate and undergraduate degrees will be conferred for 210 summer graduates at University of Nebraska at Kearney commencement exercises 10 a.m. Friday (Aug. 11) at UNK’s Health and Sports Center.
