Cambridge Council approves Conditional use Permit application for bee little Daycare

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, August 7, 2023. Council Member Nora McGowen was absent from the meeting. A public hearing was held for consideration of a Conditional Use Permit Application for Bee Little Daycare for a daycare center in an “R-1” singlefamily residential district. The Public Hearing was closed after hearing comments from the applicant Amanda Mullen. Mayor David Gunderson then went through the criteria for approving the conditional use permit. A motion was made and seconded to approve the conditional use of daycare at 922 Pacific Street. The conditional use permit was approved.

Cambridge thrift shop celebrates 65 years of service

Cheers to 65 years Members of the Cambridge Memorial Hospital Auxiliary celebrated 65 years of service to the community as they hosted an anniversary celebration at their Thrift Shop on Saturday, August 5th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patrons took advantage of 65 cent sales on clothing, books, DVD’s and CD’s, purses, bedding, toys, games and assorted housewares. Hourly door prizes of $10 gift certificates to the Thrift Shop were won by Dawn Schroeder, Tim Baca, Rachel Tomasek, Ashley Larsen, Susan Hector, Marj Hueftle, Linda Lampe and Mike Abels. Pat Cox also won a gift certificate for guessing the number of corks in a jar (54 corks). A new Cricket Cake Decorator was won by Cecelia Loganbill.

beaver City purchasing new ambulance power cot

During the bi-monthly city council meeting on August 7, Terry Klein, chief of the EMS unit, reported that all funds are in to order an ambulance power cot next month. Most recently, Phelps Memorial Health Center provided a grant of $5,600 to purchase the equipment. In a previous meeting, the purchase of an ambulance was approved, but the waiting period for delivery is approximately three years.

Prairie Quilt Guild members Marty Kleppinger and Kathy Beck presented a Quilt Of Honor quilt to Tom Koenig for his service in the US Navy in the 1960’s. Also present was Connie Koenig. The Holdrege Quilt Of Honor Chapter members are honored to recognize US service men and women of all branches.
