Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department announces an opportunity for youth ages 9 to 14 to participate in the annual radon poster contest. The contest works to educate youth about the dangers of radon exposure in the home.

Kathleen R.(Scharf) Housley 9/20/1925 10/30/2023 Kathleen (Kay) Housley, age 98, was the oldest daughter from the marriage of W. Adam Scharf and F. Beatice Skaife. Two siblings followed: Sister Rosalie and brother John. They grew up on the family farm south of Curtis, Nebraska.

A memorial service for Carol V. Gibson will be held on Monday, November 20, 2023, at 10:30 a.m.

Funeral Services for Verlene R. Freeland was held on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. Interment followed at the Industry Cemetery in rural Atlanta, Nebraska.

Leatrice Sexton of Cambridge age 86, passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 15, 2023. She was born in Mineral Wells, Texas on October 18, 1937, to Vaughn and Betty (Bell) Davis. Leatrice grew up and attended Mineral Wells High School, graduating in 1955. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Education from Harden Simmons University. Leatrice taught for several years in Texas.

Reba Maxine Tomlin age 91 of Cambridge passed away at the Cambridge Memorial Hospital on November 16, 2023, loved by her family. She was born north of Orafino to Theodore and Eunice (Moore) Ohlson, their third daughter. The family later moved to the farm south of Cambridge where she attended Sunny Hillside Country School. She had many fun memories and lifelong friends from there. Reba attended and graduated from Cambridge High School in 1949. She continued her education for two years at Kearney State College.

Charlotte Farr age 90 of Cambridge, passed away on November 20, 2023. Funeral Services are pending.

I love Thanksgiving. I love preparing the food all day and enjoying it while sitting around a table with some of the people I love most. And there is one holiday tradition that I have grown to adore. As we sit down to eat, we share one thing we feel grateful for this year.
