Mystery of Cambridge’s Statue of Liberty: Partly Solved?
Body
At the intersection of Patterson St. and Nasby St., or Highway 47 and Highway 6/34, there once stood a re-creation of the Statue of Liberty. The statue, made of concrete similar to the Civil War Soldier that greets you at the entrance to the Fairview Cemetery, was created by local artist Robert “Bob” Danfield (June 10th, 1874 - March 1st, 1958). Her fate, and especially location, has been the subject of much speculation in the town of Cambridge and has also inspired many generations of ‘treasure hunters’ in the area. Her location will likely remain just as mysterious as it ever was, but its fate could now be more clear.
