Mystery of Cambridge’s Statue of Liberty: Partly Solved?

Body
At the intersection of Patterson St. and Nasby St., or Highway 47 and Highway 6/34, there once stood a re-creation of the Statue of Liberty. The statue, made of concrete similar to the Civil War Soldier that greets you at the entrance to the Fairview Cemetery, was created by local artist Robert “Bob” Danfield (June 10th, 1874 - March 1st, 1958). Her fate, and especially location, has been the subject of much speculation in the town of Cambridge and has also inspired many generations of ‘treasure hunters’ in the area. Her location will likely remain just as mysterious as it ever was, but its fate could now be more clear.

Mornings started off with The Pledge of Allegiance & learning the 4-H Pledge, then each youth were able to take home their own old glory. Next, they went outside and played Simon Says as well as a new game called telephone. The youth were able to take away from both games about why we need to be a good listener and what could happen if we are not good listeners. Next, we talked about the people we can trust, youth were able to draw on a piece of paper who they thought they could trust.

Putting a cap on a fantastic high school sports year

Body
Coming into the 2023 2024 school year, there were certainly a number of high school athletes, locally, that had high expectations for themselves and their teams, but I don’t know that even the most extreme optimist could have envisioned the great successes enjoyed by those wearing our school colors this past year.
