Margaret Ruth Peterson, age 87, went to be with the Lord on Friday, June 7, 2024, at her home in Cambridge, Nebraska, at the age of 87. She was born in Cambridge, Nebraska on August 24, 1936 to Monte and Jeanie (Rankin) Petersen.

Brenda Joy Riepe, age 83, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. She was born on October 9, 1940 in Gardena, CA to Gerald Paul Collins and Doris Ledene (Stevenson) Collins. Brenda was their third child out of seven. At the age of 2, Brenda and her family moved from California to Nebraska. Brenda attended Beaver City High School and graduated in 1957. In 1958, she married Burl Wurm and had 2 daughters- Kelly Sue Keinz and Rhonda Rossiter. Brenda and Burl divorced in 1966. Brenda remarried Wayne Edward Riepe in 1967, and the two of them were married for 42 years before his passing in 2010.

Mary Lynn (Graf) Marsh passed peacefully in her sleep on June 2, 2024, at Bryan West Medical Center in Lincoln, Nebraska. Mary was born August 31, 1946 in Loup City, Nebraska to George and Jannetta (Jensen) Graf.

Allan Keith Wylie, age 87, formerly of Elwood, Nebraska passed away peacefully on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Wes Des Moines, Iowa. He was born on December 19, 1936, in Minden, Nebraska to Ford and Elizabeth (Ford) Wylie.

A Funeral Service for Thelma Gibb was held on Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, Nebraska with Chaplain Kathy Doiel officiating. Interment followed at the Prairie Home Cemetery, Holdrege.

Carla Bales was called to her heavenly home on Monday, June 3, 2024, in Wahoo, Nebraska. She was born July 17, 1935, to Charles and Selma (Bamesberger) Cruver. Carla was the third child of four girls and attended school in McCook. She married Raymond Doyle on Sept. 6, 1953, at the Peace Lutheran Church. Their marriage was blessed with four children that they raised in McCook. On June 14, 1980, she married Floyd Bales and gained five extra children.

The 2024 Holbrook Carp Shoot was held on June 6th with lots of shooting action. Winning the event was Brock and Dyllan Mowry with 285.5 lbs. Second was Mike and Cody Broomfield with 259.5 lbs. and in third was Jake Whipple and Jesse Alexander with 186 lbs. Six kids also shot in the event with Amos Klinkebiel winning with 21.8 lbs, second was Bryer Mowry with 15.4lbs, third was Lane Stanton with 9 lbs, fourth Colyns Mowry with 2.56, T5 was Brigs Vontz and Mason Hager with 0 lbs. Large carp was taken by Wayne Vontz weighing in at 12.54 lbs and Small Carp was Braden Hadwiger at 2.01 lbs.
