The Arapahoe City Council met for their regular meeting on Tuesday, September 3 at 7:30 pm. There was some discussion on the new trash service during the clerk’s report.
We’ve been reminded that summer isn’t over and we’re back to the warmish/hot and dry late summer days. Wheat drilling time is approaching and another nice shower within the next few days would be great.
Two human cases of West Nile Virus have been reported to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) from the nine-county health district. West Nile Virus is a disease that is spread to people by the bite of an infected mosquito. Nebraska has had the second highest number of West Nile cases in the country so far this year.
The elementary at Eustis- Farnam was full of excitement as the students sat in the gym for a ribbon cutting ceremony of their own branch of Waypoint Bank. It will be the Stampede Student Branch and staff ed by sixth grade students with help from the bank staff.
ARAPAHOE – Discussion of the budget was front and center during the Arapahoe Public School Board meeting on September 9. Immediately prior to the regular board meeting, a public budget hearing was held.
Frontier County 4-H members were among 306 4-H members who participated in the 4-H Fashion Show at Grand Island on Saturday, August 24. Youth ages 8-18 showcased garments that they made, decorated, or purchased through 4-H projects during one of the three shows hosted within the Raising Nebraska exhibit in the Nebraska Building at the State Fairgrounds.
