Hastings College and the Jackson Dinsdale Art Center (JDAC) invite high school juniors to apply for Open Space for the Visual Arts, a weeklong summer immersion program designed for current high school juniors passionate about art.

Ag Communications Southern Valley’s finished fourth out of ten teams in the competition, led by a runnerup finish from Natalee Holste. Mikah Schultz also finished sixth and Madalyn Schoen and Ellie Weatherwax competed for the team as well.

Five Elwood students earned gold awards at the Agriscience Fair at the 2025 State FFA Convention. Liam Brell and Benjamin Morton were State Champions with a Gold rating in Animal Science. William Oaklund also claimed a State Championship in Plant Science for the secondstraight year. Klaire Pohl and Jurnee Harris received a gold and finished in third place in Environmental and Natural Resources.

Discovery Speaking Layton Hamel of Arapahoe received a bronze. Cooperative Speaking Regina Pena of Cambridge received a bronze.

The Medicine Valley FCCLA chapter returned home last week from another excellent trip to State Leadership Conference. Medicine Valley did wonderful and represented their chapter well.

The FBLA members had an amazing state conference this year! Besides the wonderful aspects of the conference, they also learned the importance of flexibility, perseverance, and networking. The Southern Valley chapter was recognized as a Gold level chapter in the National Chapter Award application, which means they can submit the application for National recognition. They were recognized as a Model of Excellence chapter finalist and placed 1st in the Growing Leaders division.
