Elwood’s Holl to be inducted into 8-man Hall of Fame

Cory Holl, a 1988 graduate from Elwood, has been selected as one of the 19 players and coaches to be inducted into the class of 2025 Nebraska 8-Man Football Hall of Fame. Peaking in size at around 5’10” and 170 pounds, Holl was a dynamic 3-time 1,000-yard rusher.

Two Nominees Forwarded for County Court Judge in the 11th Judicial District

LINCOLN, NE – Today, the Judicial Nominating Commission for the County Court Judge in the 11th Judicial District provided the following two names for consideration by Governor Jim Pillen: Audrey A. Kingston and Kortnei N. Smith, both of North Platte. The 11th Judicial District consists of Arthur, Chase, Dawson, Dundy, Frontier, Furnas, Gosper, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Keith, Lincoln, Logan, McPherson, Perkins, Red Willow, and Thomas counties. The vacancy is due to the retirement of Judge Edward D. Steenburg.

Increase in Tularemia Cases

Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD) has received reports of three cases of tularemia in the health district over the past month. Tularemia can be spread by tick bites, deer fly bites or contact with infected animals such as wild rabbits.

MPCC announces Spring President’s List

A total of 110 students qualified for the President’s List during the 2025 spring semester at Mid-Plains Community College. To make the list, each student had to complete 12 or more applicable credit hours in college-level courses and maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.9 or greater on a 4.0 scale.

A total of 148 students qualified for the Mid-Plains Community College Dean’s List during the 2025 spring semester. To make the list, students had to complete 12 or more applicable credit hours of college-level courses and maintain an overall grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 – 3.89 on a 4.0 scale.
