Cambridge City Council will take bids for tree trimming service

Cambridge City Council met in regular session on Monday, July 7, 2025. Council members Jeff Ommert and Kevin Banzhaf were absent from the meeting. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Open Meeting Announcement, the council approved the Consent Agenda. That included the approval of the minutes from the June 16, 2025, City Council meeting, the claims, the Cambridge Rescue minutes from April 28, 2025, and the Library Board Minutes from June 17, 2025.

Cambridge Lions donates hamburger feed earnings to local food programs

The Cambridge Lions would like to thank everyone who supported the Lions Hamburger Feed during Medicine Creek Days. With your support, we were able to make a $500 donation to the Cambridge Senior Center, the Cambridge Food Pantry, and the Cambridge Public Schools weekend food backpack program. Thanks for letting us feed you, we are able to make donations to feed many others in our community. Great job everyone!

Calvin Gail Sweet, age 87, of Edison, Nebraska passed away on Thursday, July 3, 2025, at the CHI Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska. He was born on April 10, 1938 in a barn made into a house in Artesian, South Dakota to Orville H. and Marie (Breen) Sweet.

Wayne Earl Heathers was born October 19, 1934 in a farm house in Harlan County, Nebraska and passed away peacefully June 16, 2025 at the Wauneta Care Center, Wauneta, Nebraska at the age of 90. With both of his older brothers off to WWII, Wayne grew up early helping his parents in their wheat fields and independent oil and tire shop.
