A Memorial Service for Larry D. Tams was held on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, at 2:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church in Alma, Nebraska, with Pastor Daren Popple officiating. A private inurnment was held prior to the service at the Alma Cemetery.
Burdene Kasson, age 101, of Beaver City, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at the Beaver City Manor, Beaver City, Nebraska. She was born on January 18, 1924 to Emmett & Josephine (Brown) Walker.
With the Independence Day holiday on Friday, multiple communities across the area have planned for fireworks and other festivities for the Fourth. The Indianola Fire & Rescue will host a celebration on Thursday (July 3) at the ballpark, which will include food and family games, followed by fireworks.
CURTIS - A group of more than 300 bicyclists traversed the area last week, leaving Curtis on a 250-mile round trip through Frontier, Gosper, Furnas and Red Willow counties over five days. With overnight stops in Elwood, Cambridge and Mc-Cook twice, the group closed their tour with a return trip to Curtis Sunday.
Dallas Grunden, an upcoming senior at Maywood High School, has been chosen as the 2025-2026 Frontier County Farm Bureau Youth Ambassador. Dallas is the daughter of Harris and Joanie Grunden of rural Maxwell.
A third positive case of rabies in an animal has been reported to Southwest Nebraska Public Health Department (SWNPHD). This positive rabies test was from a bat in Furnas County. It is normal to see one to three cases of rabies per year in southwest Nebraska.
