Amy Huxoll of Holbrook, NE has a published book titled “Her Hands” and will be having a book signing at Local Roots in Arapahoe on Saturday, December 20th at 10:00 a.m. When discussing her new book, Her Hands, Amy shared that it is a story she has always wanted to tell.

Beau D. Robertson of Cozad passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2025 at Nebraska Medicine in Omaha at the age of 45. Beau was born on June 12, 1980 in Lexington, Nebraska to Kent and Linda (Bennett) Robertson. He attended elementary school at District 29 south of Cozad and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1999.

Bryce Warren Evans, 52, of McCook, Nebraska, passed away on November 28, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Hastings on July 9, 1973 and raised in Nebraska, Bryce grew up with a deep appreciation for the land, the outdoors, and the people who filled his life with meaning. To know Bryce was to know someone who never met a stranger, who never hesitated to lend a hand, and who believed life was meant to be lived with dirt on your boots, sun on your face, and laughter hanging in the air.

Donna (Fish) Flammang Janssen, age 92, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2025, in McCook, Nebraska, at Hillcrest Nursing Home. After spending a blessed Thanksgiving with nearly seventy members of her family, she suffered a stroke the next day.

Jerry Petersen, aged 89, passed away on December 6, 2025, in Elwood, Nebraska. Gerald “Jerry” Lee Petersen was born on June 27, 1936, on a farm north of Orafi no, Nebraska, to Elmer and Gladys (Estergard) Petersen.

On Wednesday, December 3, 2025, Sondra Virginia Foster passed away peacefully, at the age of 86, at Brookestone View in Broken Bow, Nebraska. A combined Memorial Service for Sondra and her husband Robert, who passed away in 2021, will be held on Friday, December 12th, at 10:30 a.m., at the United Methodist Church in Broken Bow, Nebraska with Pastor Phil Sloat officiating.

SOUTHERN VALLEY The Southern Valley girls basketball team battled two of the top teams in the area to open the season and dropped both contests, falling to Minden, 5138, Friday before a 60-39 loss to Elm Creek Friday.

EUSTIS - The Hi-Line boys basketball team opened its season with consecutive victories, downing Wilcox-Hildreth Thursday, 39-32, and Ansley-Litchfield Friday, 46-39. The Bulls clamped down on the Falcons late Thursday, holding Wilcox-Hildreth to just four points in the fourth quarter to pull away for the seven-point victory.

EUSTIS - The Hi-Line girls rebounded from a lopsided first quarter on opening night to post a victory over Wilcox-Hildreth, 30-26. The Bulls trailed 16-0 after one period and trailed 20-13 to the fourth, but they scored 17 points over the final eight minutes to rally for the fourpoint victory.

SOUTHERN VALLEY The Southern Valley boys basketball team dropped a pair of tough assignments to open the season, falling at Minden Thursday and at home to Elm Creek. The Eagles battled the Whippets early, but a 12-0 Minden run to close the first half blew the game open and Minden rolled away to a o8052 victory.
