Maywood School Board hires new fourth grade teacher

The Maywood School Board held their first meeting of the new year on January 12 and conducted their business in one hour. All four officers were reelected to their positions on the six-member board for 2026: Marty (President), Sheri Hartley (Vice President), Barbara Fritsche (Secretary), and Jason Johnson (Treasurer).

Larry Lee Bodfield, 74 passed away peacefully January 10th, 2026, at home surrounded by family. He was born on March 22, 1951, to Richard and Geraldine Bodfield in Gothenburg, Nebraska where he also attended school. He married Mary Lucille Imler on March 26th, 1971, to which four children were born, Rebecca, Angie, Michael, and Michelle. He was employed in numerous jobs over the year’s most specializing in meat processing. He was an avid outdoors man including fishing, hunting and trapping.

Marie Louise Foley, a beloved mother and grandmother, was born on July 19, 1947, in Gothenburg, Nebraska, to Monroe and Mae (Morris) Schmidt. Growing up in Bartley, Nebraska, she completed her education and graduated with the Bartley High School Class of 1965.
