Winners of the Arapahoe Chamber of Commerce “Chamber Bucks” Christmas Giveaway were: 1st week Lora Rhinehart $100, 2nd week Ginny Park $50; 3rd week Angie Moore; 4th week Ashley Moore $300. The winner of the home lighting contest and $100 chamber bucks was Dave and Leisa Beat.

Commissioners meeting transfer of $100,000 from the Inheritance Tax Fund to the County General Fund with the provision that the money will be transferred back to the Inheritance Tax by May 15th.

Charles August Mues, founder of the C. A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe is the namesake for two of the center’s more popular residents, Charles and Gus, resident cats.

The Furnas County Commissioners approved a motion to authorize a $10 fee for county building applications which would include any new construction located outside municipalities that have their own zoning regulations.

Gary Thompson family of Arapahoe are hosting their second foreign exchange student Nina Gretcher from Eppelshelm, Germany. Another Arapahoe family is hosting a foreign exchange student this year is the Gerry Taylor family. Martin Tornhage comes to the United States from Sweden and is also enrolled in the Arapahoe High School.

Holbrook Village lighting contest winners were Wayne Huxoll home first place, Raymond Massey second place, and Herb Tyler third place.

The newly elected Furnas ASC County Committee persons is: Don Cass Chairman, K. Dale Fults, vice chamber, Clinton Olmsted regular member, Russell Babcock first alternate, and Lynn Youngquist second alternate.

Officers for the Arapahoe freshman class were Jason Anderson vice president, Mark Downey president, Lisa Beedle treasurer, and Deb Fitzke secretary.

Jake McCoy is pictured making sure Christmas Committee Chairman Gordon Monie gets the right name on the slip of the “Christmas in July” vacation. The winner was Henry Mock.

Items of food from these boxes went into making up 22 Christmas gifts were distributed in Arapahoe the day before Christmas.
