The Arapahoe Warriors defeated Maywood, Medicine Valley and Dundy County to take home the championship plaque of the 2011 Cattle Trail Invite last week. AHS was led by Wyatt Anderson with 40 points throughout the tournament in which the Warriors outscored Maywood 67-25, Medicine Valley 42-30, and Dundy County 47-36.

The AHS FFA chapter traveled to Curtis for the District 11 Leadership Contest . Ashley McCoy was second in senior public speaking, the Ag Demo team of Logan Warner, Jared Crosley, and Stephanie Paulsen placed second with their demonstration on soil sampling.

The Edison American Legion hosted a Christmas dinner at the Edison Community Building last Wednesday night and Arapahoe students Brad Loghry gave a presentation on the Junior Law Cadet camp that he attended and Wyatt Kipp gave his presentation on Boys State.

With Christmas music announcing its arrival a special 3-car Burlington Northern/Santa Fe train, called the Santa Train made a special stop in Arapahoe. It was estimated that approximately 200 children boarded the train to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

The Arapahoe Junior Girls earned a 47-43 win over Alma in the A gimlets week with Abbey Bering having a hot hand scoring 29 points. Other scoring came from Hollie Thomas, Jennie Clinton, Alesa Paulsen, Sara Urbom, Julie Wendland and Tiffany Moore.

Receiving their Bear Badges at the Saturday pack meeting were Marcus Helms, Nick Sommerfeld and Jeff Harmon.

The holiday season in Arapahoe is celebrated by families throughout town and in the country by decorating their homes and yards with beautiful sights of holiday lights. The home of Melvin and Margaret Smith of Arapahoe is a home you can count on each Christmas to be decorated and lighted for all the community to enjoy.

Hornet Matt Andrews fights for a rebound with visiting Strattonite. The Hornets defeated the Bulldogs 67 to 48 and gained their third win of the season.

Lila Adams hosted the PEO chapter in her home Dec. 10. Special honor was bestowed on Florence Proud who is been a CE member for 50 years.

In spite of the cold weather and light snow, the great interest in the C.C. Mues rest home was attested by the attendance at the dedication Sunday, with over 200 attending. Master of ceremonies was J.E. Longsine, president of the Chamber of Commerce.

Blame it on the storm for the lack of pictures and also the scarcity of news. Several pictures scheduled for this issue failed to arrive either Tuesday or Wednesday morning. Tuesday’s delay of mail, also upset the routine at this office as the bulk of incoming copy is received on that day.
