ALICE M. DIETZ
A memorial service for Alice M. Dietz will be held on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Holdrege, Nebraska, with Reverend Kenton Birtell officiating. Alice and Richard will be laid to rest together on Monday, August 17, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, Nebraska.
Alice May (Noltensmeier) Dietz, 86 years of age, of Atlanta, Nebraska, formerly of Oxford, passed away on August 9, 2026, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. She was born on March 11, 1940, on the family farm northwest of Arapahoe, Nebraska, the third of six children, born to Simon and Minna (Ziems) Noltensmeier.
She received her education from Arapahoe Public Schools, graduating with the class of 1958.
On November 15, 1958, Alice was united in marriage to Richard Eugene Dietz at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church north of Arapahoe, and to this union, six children were born: Loretta, Brenda, Marcheen, Rosa, Donna, and Kevin. Alice focused on tending to the house and raising the children. Once they were school-aged, Alice began working at Becton Dickinson in Holdrege as a nurse’s aide, at the Walker Post Manor in Oxford, a cook at the University of Nebraska – Kearney, and a cashier at Walmart in Kearney.
Alice enjoyed reading, knitting, and caring for her kitties. She loved the outdoors and took pride in sharing produce from her garden with her friends and family. Alice was kind-hearted and loved giving to others.
Alice’s sister, Viola, said she always had a sparkle in her eye and never knew a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Richard of 65 years; one son-in-law, Ryan Churchill; two brothers: Richard Noltensmeier; and Clarence Noltensmeier; motherin- law and father-in-law, William “Bill” and Maxine (Batt) Dietz; and two brothers-in-law: Norman Dietz; and Larry Dietz.
She is survived by her six children: Loretta Florence and her husband, Eddie of Texarkana, Arkansas; Brenda Breinig and her husband, Allen of Nashville, Tennessee; Marcheen Churchill of Williston, North Dakota; Rosa Wilson and her husband, Reed of Loomis, Nebraska; Donna Zeadow of Hastings, Nebraska; and Kevin Dietz of Atlanta; 19 grandchildren; 29 greatgrandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; brother, Wayne Noltensmeier; sister: Viola Cartee and her husband, Gary; and Lorene Russell of Holdrege; sistersin- law: Ortha Noltensmeier; Judy Journey; Janice Johnson; and Sharon Ludeke; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
There will be no visitation or memorial book signing. The family is honoring Alice’s wish for cremation.
Memorials in Alice’s honor are suggested to the family for later designation.
