A Funeral Service for Mae Best will be held on Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Wes Hafner officiating. Interment will follow at the Edison Cemetery, Edison, NE.
Eula Mae Best, 93 years of age, of Alma, NE, formerly of rural Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021, at the Good Samaritan Society Colonial Villa in Alma. Mae was born on February 27, 1928, at Edison, the only child born to Murven and Agnes (Hays) Fisher. Mae attended Edison Public Schools and graduated from Edison High School, with the class of 1945.
On March 9, 1946, Mae was united in marriage to Ivan Robeson in Edison. The couple made their home in rural Edison. God blessed this union with three children: Leon, Gale, and Elaine.
On December 25, 1965, Mae was united in marriage to Ralph Best at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford. Mae was later baptized on March 16, 1966 and confirmed on March 20, 1966 at the church. The couple celebrated over 50 years of marriage and together enjoyed traveling, especially winters in Texas.
Mae was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford.
Mae was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands: Ivan Robeson in 1960; and Ralph Best in 2016; her three children: Gale in 1960, Elaine in 1998, and Leon in 2000; one brother-in-law, Ben Best; and three sisters-in-law, Alice Best, Barbara Best, and Geraldine Best.
Mae is survived by her daughter-in-law, LesLee McGee and her husband, Tracy of rural Oxford; son-in-law, Bruce Rask of Oxford; one granddaughter, Jessica Zoubek and her husband, Greg of Firth, Nebraska; two great-granddaughters, Olivia and Aubrey Zoubek; one nephew, Rodney Best and his wife, Pat of Edison; great-niece, Tara Snow and her husband, Jan of Savannah, Georgia; great-nephew, Jon Best and his wife, Elizabeth of Katy, Texas with their two sons: Zane and Jude; other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service. Memorials are kindly suggested to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford.
