JUDY WEISHEIT
A Funeral service for Judy Weisheit was held on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stamford, Nebraska, with Pastor Thalia Woodworth and Reverend Dr. W. Kirwin Stewart, Jr., officiating. Interment followed at Stamford Cemetery, Stamford.
Judith Ann “Judy” Weisheit, 78 years of age, of Stamford, passed away on July 28, 2026, following a brief stay at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege, Nebraska. Judy was born on October 15, 1947, in Humbolt, Nebraska, the eldest of three children born to Harold “Vernon” and Erma Mae (Jancik) Reed. She attended Elmwood Public Schools in Elmwood, Nebraska.
On September 10, 1964, Judy was united in marriage to John Weisheit at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Louisville, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed in 1965 at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Louisville and then transferred her membership to Trinity Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with two children: Marlene and Joe.
In her younger years, Judy worked for Hanna Variety and Hogeland Market Place in Alma, and later BD in Holdrege for 17 years. She also worked as the bookkeeper for Weisheit Construction for over 50 years.
Judy loved to be outdoors! She enjoyed fishing, nature walks, and gardening. She and John also enjoyed square dancing, and going to dances in their younger years. Throughout the years, Judy and John enjoyed traveling to Mexico, Europe, the Caribbean Islands and Hawaii.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers-in-law: Lyle Wendt; and Frederick Weisheit; Judy is survived by her husband of 61 years, John Weisheit of rural Stamford; their children: Marlene Launchbaugh of Oxford; and Joe Weisheit and wife, Megan of Orleans, Nebraska; three grandchildren: Sophia, Elizabeth, and Abigail Weisheit; her siblings: brother, Gary Reed and his wife, Marilyn of Elmwood, Nebraska; and sister, Linda Blunt and husband, Ed of Elmwood; sister-in-law, Mary Wendt of Murdock, Nebraska; and Betty Weisheit of Lushton, Nebraska; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
A visitation was held on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Holdrege, with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
Memorials in Judy’s honor are suggested to the Stamford Fire and Rescue.
