A Memorial Mass for Kenneth L. Duran will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette, Colorado with a reception to follow.

Kenneth L. (Ken) Duran, 63 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska passed away, on March 12, 2022, at the Phelps Memorial Health Center in Holdrege, Nebraska. Ken was born in Boulder, Colorado on November 3, 1958, the youngest of six children, born to Bonifacio and Rosie (Gomez) Duran. He received his primary education from Louisville Elementary School in Louisville, Colorado and later attended and graduated from Centaurus High School, in Lafayette, Colorado.

Following his education, Ken worked at Storage Technology Corporation in Louisville and later started Duran Tree and Landscaping.

Ken was blessed with two children: Dr. Wendy Rose and Kenneth Jake. He enjoyed traveling and being outside especially gardening, hunting and fishing. Ken liked to eat and was a good cook. An avid history buff he was known to talk history with Kenneth Jake for hours. He loved his cat Skippy, three robust chickens, and his dog Daisy. He also loved watching sports particularly the Denver Broncos.

He was a member of the Elks Club, Rod and Gun Club, and was very active in their fundraisers and charity events.

Ken was quite the handyman and was a great friend to have, he would drop everything to come over and help you with whatever you needed.

Ken was preceded in death by: his parents; one brother, William Joseph Duran Sr.; and one sister-in-law, Anna.

Ken is survived by his children: Dr. Wendy Rose Duran; Kenneth Jake Duran; one brother, Robert Duran; three sisters: Veronica Duran; Juanita Duran Razo; Susan Duran Lucero and her husband, Joe; as well as a host of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

There will be no visitation, the family is honoring Ken’s wish for cremation. A Memorial Service will be held 26 April at 10:30 am at the Immaculate Conception Church, 715 Cabrini Drive, Lafayette, CO. A reception will follow the memorial mass.

In lieu of flowers, it is kindly suggested that donations be sent, in Ken’s honor, to the Boulder Humane Society, 2323 55th St, Boulder, CO 80301.
