LAVIRDA F. “PAT” GEHRIG
A Funeral Service for LaVirda F. “Pat” Gehrig was held on Monday, November 1, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Wes Holen officiating. Interment will at the Oxford Cemetery at Oxford.
LaVirda Flossie Gehrig, better known as Pat Gehrig, 99 years of age, of Oxford, passed away, on Wednesday, October 27, 2021, at Holdrege Memorial Homes in Holdrege. Pat was born in Wilsonville, Nebraska on July 22 1922, the eldest of three children, born to Charles and Clara (Walton) Towle. She received her education through the tenth grade in Oberlin, Kansas.
On September 3, 1948, Pat was united in marriage to Herman Gehrig and they had one son, Charles. They made their home in Mascot, Nebraska, where Pat was a devoted mother and wife. She stayed busy coffeeing with many great friends, playing Bingo and cards, and loved to dance as a young woman.
She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Oxford. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Herman in 1973; two brothers, Charles Towle and Howard Towle; and her son, Charles Gehrig in 2020.
Pat is survived by her daughter-in-law, Joyce Gehrig of Salisbury, Missouri; two grandchildren: Kevin (Stacia) Gehrig of Republic, Missouri; and Amy (Joe) Smedley of Salisbury, Missouri; five great-grandchildren: Caleb, Codey and Alyssa Smedley; and Béla and Beatrice Gehrig; along with a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held prior to the service at 1:00 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Pat’s honor, and kindly suggested to the Oxford Evangelical Free Church or the Golden Generation Center in Oxford.
