Memorial Services for Phyllis L. (Broeker) Thulin will be held at a later date.

Phyllis Louise (Broeker) Thulin, 93 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, September 21, 2023, at the Good Samaritan Society – St. Johns in Kearney, Nebraska. Phyllis was born September 6, 1930, on the family farm in Harlan County, Nebraska, the sixth of ten children born to Carl Otto and Clara Louise (Hoppe) Broeker. She received her primary education from Carter Country School and then graduated from Mascot High School with the class of 1948.

Following her education, Phyllis began working at the Orleans telephone company for two years. On November 18, 1950, Phyllis was united in marriage to Milton Eugene Thulin at the United Methodist Church in Oxford. This union was blessed with three children: Bruce, Thomas, and a daughter. The couple owned and operated the Oxford Turkey Hatchery.

Phyllis enjoyed cooking for family dinners and holiday celebrations, and attending and playing in her card club.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Oxford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Milton in 2003; son, Bruce Thulin; and grandson, John Thulin in 2004.

Phyllis leaves to celebrate her life; her children: a daughter; and a son, Tom Thulin of Phoenix, Arizona; five grandchildren; one greatgrandson; one sister, Janice (York) Maaske of Kearney, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A private visitation was held.

A memorial has been established in Phyllis’ honor and kindly suggested to her family for future designation.
