ROGER M. LUEKING
A Funeral Service for Roger M. Lueking will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Oxford, Nebraska with Pastor Albert Longe and Pastor Darren Popple officiating. Interment will follow at the Oxford Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by the Oxford American Legion Post #219 in conjunction with the United States Army Funeral Honors Team. The family requests everyone to wear Husker attire.
Roger Milton Lueking, 75 years of age, of Oxford, died on Sunday, August 22, 2021, at his home in Oxford, surrounded by his family. Roger was born on August 28, 1945, in Oxford, the youngest of two children, born to Milton and Ruth (Berner) Lueking. He attended and graduated from Oxford High School, with the class of 1963. Roger then pursued higher education at Milford Tech School and graduated with a degree in Auto Body.
Following his graduation from college, Roger started farming in Oxford.
He was then drafted into the United States Army in December of 1966, serving as a Military Police Officer and also as a gunner. He was active in the Vietnam War from May of 1967 to May of 1968. In September of 1968, he was honorably discharged.
On September 10, 1966, Roger was united in marriage to Judy Lynn Baily at the United Methodist Church in Oxford. This union was blessed with four children: Monica, Marcia, Mindy, and Monte. The family made their home in Oxford, where Roger continued to farm. After retiring from farming, he was then employed at Ag Valley for 10 years.
Together the couple enjoyed: traveling, gardening, card club, Husker sporting events, especially volleyball games, and attending their children and grandchildren’s events.
Roger was an active member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Oxford, and later attended the United Methodist Church in Oxford.
Roger was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter, Alexis Arauza; his sister, Kay Haag and her husband, Bernie; sister and brothers-in-law: Harold Baily; Ernie Baily; Margie White and her husband, Bud; Jr. Fisher; and Fay Nelson.
Roger leaves to mourn his passing; his wife of nearly 55 years, Judy Lueking, of Oxford; his children: Monica Lueking of Holbrook, Nebraska; Marcia Carlson and her husband, Jeremy of Lincoln, Nebraska; Mindy Lueking-Teserio and her husband, Tim of Tempe, Arizona; Monte Lueking of Oxford; 15 grandchildren: Baily, Beau, Chloe and Clare Craig; Crosby and Cooper Crowe; Ellie Arauza; Grayson Trumble; Aubree Carlson; Jade, Tanner and Holly Teserio; Kaitlyn and her husband, Shane Sundquist; Dylon and Halle Lueking; two greatgrandchildren: Skarlett and Skyler Sundquist; brothers and sisters-in-law: Doris Nelson; Geri Fisher; Beverly Peterson; Robert and his wife, Fran Baily; Joy Baily; along with other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Mitchell-Nelson-Bauer Funeral Home in Oxford, with the family greeting from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
A memorial has been established in Roger’s honor, and kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
